I designed this website because I loved websites, but I hated HTML, I hated FTP, and I obstinate to learn them. (If you don't know what these abbreviations mean, don't bother learning — my system makes them obsolete.) Actually, I would have probably had to learn them, but I was lucky enough to meet Jacob Hammond one of the most brilliant programmers I have ever met (he writes code like most people write English, except faster). I was able to persuade him to work on my quixotic notion of designing our own web-publishing system. I've been a trial lawyer for twenty years, but after litigating the Sex.Com case for Gary Kremen, I got interested in publishing websites. Not those kind of websites! Legal websites! What I told Jacob I needed, and what he delivered, was SIMPLICITY. A total technical dunce must be able to run this system, I told him, because lawyers will not learn how to “write” and “upload” a website. He delivered. You will never need to learn HTML or FTP, and your site will look just like this one. We call it the Lark Publisher, because we did it on a lark.
